On Tuesday Nov. 12, during the termly meeting of the National Principals’ Association, Chairman of the Elections Committee, Mr. Julian Monrose, swore in the new executive of the association at the Arch Bishop Kelvin Felix Pastoral Centre in Marisule, Gros Islet.

The new executive members of NPA Saint Lucia hail from eight schools on the island and are as follows:

1.  PRESIDENT - Mrs. Valerie St. Helene-Henry, principal of Ave Maria Girls' Primary School

2.  VICE PRESIDENT - Ms. Beverley Dieudonne, principal of Camille Henry Memorial School

3.  SECRETARY - Mrs. Sonjane Marcelle-Etienne, principal of Richford Combined School

4.  ASSISTANT SECRETARY - Mrs. Flora Emmanuel, principal of Micoud Secondary School

5.  TREASURER - Mr. Adey Paul, principal of Ciceron Secondary School

6.  PRO - Mrs. Tessa Charles-Calderon, principal of Dugard Combined School

7.  FLOOR REPS - Mrs. Murina Julian-Joseph, principal of Boguis Combined School; and Mrs. Theresa Johnny, principal of La Guerre Primary School.

The new executive of NPA Saint Lucia, in keeping with the organization’s vision, seeks to promote the professional development of all its members, thereby producing members who are effective managers and leaders.

The new executive also expresses gratitude to the immediate past executive for their dedicated service during their term. Indeed, they performed remarkably. Moreover, at last week’s termly meeting the principals discussed a number of pertinent issues including: mould infestation, and mould remediation procedures in schools, communication with the Ministry of Education, study tour for principals and particular draft policies proposed by the Ministry of Education.

The executive was charged with the task of convening a meeting with the Chief Education Officer and the Minister of Education to address the salient issues affecting the education of our children and the working environment at our schools. Noteworthy was the welcoming of new principals to the membership of NPA Saint Lucia. Each new member was handed a copy of the organization’s constitution and a membership pin. In this regard, NPA Saint Lucia continues to strive in its mission to advocate for educational policies that support the professional development and commitment of principals, and in so doing create an environment where principals can uphold excellent educational standards and practices.
