Prime Minister Hon. Philip J. Pierre is in New York for the High-Level Week of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The General Debate runs from September 22 to 26, with an additional sitting on September 28. Under the theme “Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations That Delivers for All,” world leaders are meeting to address major global issues, including international peace and security, climate change, sustainable development and financing.

Prime Minister Pierre is scheduled to deliver Saint Lucia's national statement during the General Debate on Friday, September 25, 2026. The broadcast time will be shared once confirmed.

On the sidelines of the General Debate, Prime Minister Pierre is expected to hold bilateral meetings on matters of interest to Saint Lucia.

Hon. Moses Jn. Baptiste is serving as Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Constituency Development, People Empowerment, Justice and National Security from Tuesday afternoon, September 22, until Wednesday evening, September 23. Hon. Dr Ernest Hilaire will act in those same offices from Wednesday evening, September 23, until Sunday afternoon, September 27. Prime Minister Pierre is expected to return to Saint Lucia on Sunday afternoon.
