The NSDC and UNESCO have joined forces in support of Saint Lucian women.

The Saint Lucia National Commission for UNESCO presented a cheque for US$26, 000 to the National Skills Development Centre (NSDC) to fund its Women in Equality Empowerment Program (WEEP).

The program seeks to provide opportunities for Saint Lucian women via a comprehensive training and job placement model, and is aimed at creating sustainable employment for its participants.

UNESCO is committed to ensuring that its contributions to peace and sustainable development have a positive and lasting impact on the achievement of women’s empowerment and gender equality around the globe.

The National Commission for UNESCO believes this initiative will satisfy its 2014-2021 Strategic Priority which is geared at providing an “enabling environment for women from all walks of life, to contribute and to enjoy the benefits of sustainable development and peace.”
