The commissioning ceremony marks the completion of installation of a 75,000-gallon water tank at La Haut, Laborie.

WASCO will, tomorrow, host a handover and commissioning ceremony to mark the completion of a water stewardship program at La Haut, Laborie.

The La Haut Water Stewardship Program was funded by the Deutsche Gesellschaftfür Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) International Water Stewardship Program (IWaSP), and was undertaken by WASCO in collaboration with the Windward and Leeward Brewery Limited (WLBL). It aims to improve water security via the installation of a 75,000-gallon water tank.

The initiative will offer the community of La Haut the economic benefit of engaging in commerce or business resulting in increased employment for persons in these communities; can increase access to potable drinking water resulting in improved health conditions especially for women, children, and the most vulnerable; and can improve community resilience during extreme conditions.

It can also help reduce the migration of persons from rural to urban areas; reduce the health risks associated with the consumption of inadequately treated water; and reduce water supply interruptions during extreme events.

The commissioning ceremony for the La Haut Water Stewardship Program will be held at a site near the installation of the tank in La Haut, Laborie, on Sep. 27 at 10 a.m.

The commissioning ceremony coincides with activities held in observance of World River Day (Sep. 25).
